Course Description

This Algebra 1 course utilizes the Texas Algebra 1: Pearson textbook to build a strong foundational understanding of mathematical concepts. The curriculum guides students through a comprehensive exploration of essential algebraic topics, including: Expressions, equations, and functions, Real numbers,Solving, graphing, and writing linear equations, as well as linear inequalities Systems of equations and many others. Designed to foster both academic success and personal growth, the course emphasizes an attitude of diligence, honor, and active participation. Students will develop problem-solving confidence through a structured routine of daily practice (homework) and regular scrimmages (quizzes) to prepare them for major unit examinations. Strong emphasis is placed on the quality, neatness, and legibility of work, requiring students to clearly show their mathematical processes. Beyond mastering the core curriculum, this course aims to inspire an appreciation for the "awesomeness of math" while encouraging personal responsibility, integrity, and character development. The course is not totally dependent upon a graphing calculator, but it is used extensively throughout the year.1
