Course Description

Honors High School English I is an accelerated, rigorous course designed to establish a foundation for advanced high school literary analysis, rhetorical study, and academic writing. Students analyze diverse literary genres—including classical and contemporary fiction, drama, poetry, and nonfiction—examining how authors employ literary devices, tone, structure, and theme. The writing curriculum focuses on developing sophisticated thesis statements, structuring well-supported analytical and persuasive essays, conducting foundational research, and mastering mechanics and stylistic voice.
