Mathematics
AP Calculus
Course Description
Single variable calculus will introduce students to the problems of tangents, rates of change, minima, maxima, and infinitesimals. These problems led to the invention of calculus in the 1600s. Students will thoroughly study the meaning of differentiation (finding the tangent to a curve at any point) and integration (finding the area under a curve). Students will learn the intricacies of these two processes and their intimate relationship as inverse procedures. Students will be exposed to the phenomenal scientific impact of calculus and its invaluable roles in physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, economics, sociology, and any field where rates of change are prevalent. Students will be encouraged to appreciate how calculus affects the way we understand the world. Designed to align with a first-semester college calculus curriculum, the course prepares students for the AP Calculus AB Exam. This course includes:
- Advanced Placement Course
- Differential & Integral Calculus
- College-Level Academic Rigor
- Year-Long In-Person Course
