Course Description

This dual-credit course provides an intensive study of critical reading, advanced argument, and analytical writing, serving as the second sequence in college composition and literature (often corresponding to College Rhetoric II / Composition II or Introduction to Literature, such as ENGL 1302). Students evaluate complex literary and informational texts across diverse genres, analyzing how authors use rhetorical strategies, structural devices, and stylistic choices to shape meaning and influence audiences. The curriculum emphasizes research methodologies, synthesizing multi-source evidence, constructing sustained academic arguments, and refining stylistic control. Upon successful completion, students earn required high school English II (or upper-level English) credit alongside transferable college credit.
