Dual Credit PreCalculus
Course Description
This dual-credit course provides a rigorous, in-depth study of the mathematical functions and analytical skills necessary for success in calculus and higher-level STEM coursework. Designed to mirror a college-level Pre-Calculus or College Algebra and Trigonometry sequence (often corresponding to MATH 1314 / MATH 1316 or MATH 2412 at the college level), the curriculum focuses on the properties, graphs, and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and piecewise-defined functions. Students explore unit circle trigonometry, trigonometric identities, vectors, parametric and polar equations, and sequences and series. Emphasizing mathematical modeling, algebraic manipulation, and graphical analysis, the course prepares students to analyze complex rate-of-change problems and construct precise mathematical arguments. Upon successful completion, students earn both high school math credit and transferable college credit. This course includes:
