Dual Credit Statistics

Course Description

This course is an introductory study to the highly relevant and applicable science of statistics. The practicality of this course is balanced with a firm foundational understanding of probability and distribution, and utilizes other concepts addressed in previous mathematics courses. Students will study and discuss the positive applications as well as the ethical decisions presented by statistical data collection and analysis in real world application. These discussions will primarily surround assigned readings of two supplementary texts, Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data and How to Lie with Statistics. By the end of the year students will have a grounded understanding of statistical principles, and practical knowledge of how statistics can be used by experts for either great benefit or great harm. Upon completion of the dual-credit course students earn both high school math credit and transferable college credit.
